Sam Deville is a London based music head with extensive DJ and promotions experience. He grew up listening to a soundtrack of ska, soul and electro hip-hop, by the time he was in his teens house and jazz were his staple musical diet. A regular clubber at the legendary Renaissance and Progress nights in the early nineties meant that he has seen house music grow and evolve over two decades.
With his musical tastes, knowledge and connections covering a plethora of genres, it was only a matter of time before Sam found himself mixing jungle, drum & bass, jazz and house on a borrowed pair of 1210s. Ever since, Sam has since been developing his unique blend of house (ranging from latin, jazzed up and funky through to techy electro and dirty) by way of an impressive number of popular gigs and residencies at some of London's best venues, all trademarked by his inimitable eclectric style.
His gigography includes venues such as Egg, Unit 7, Turnmills, The Hoxton Pony, Parker MacMillan, Anam Bar, Ministry, Salmon & Compass, Chapel Bar, The Cross and Aquarium. Deville knows intuitively how to work a crowd, and in the process drops in something a little bit different, something unheard, setting him apart from his contemporaries.
Dubble Bass is the movement he established as a vehicle for his musical sensibility and has become a growing collective of like minded DJs, musicians, friends and supporters.
With residencies and gigs for 2008 including the brand new Hoxton Pony, his regular gigs for Deranged & Demented, the Blue Trane jazz sessions, Beatjam (location TBC) and Life & Soul at Anam Bar, Sam Deville is set for another cracking year. He is busy in the studio with releases planned for 2008, including collaborations with his fellow DJs, producers and music makers. |
