Kid is a purveyor of the funkiest electro, house and breaks, a man who surfaces for brief periods to fire up the dancefloor before disappearing into the night. His sets take in the deepest, techiest house to the chunkiest electro and breaks (and by all accounts, he intends to keep it that way). However, there's only so long he was content to simply play music having hit the ground running in the production stakes too. Not only has his breaks track 'Catch Em On The Break' had a glowing review in One Week To Live, his techier moniker Barbara from Brazil is also enjoying a good 2007 having signed the track 'O for Oranges, to the mighty Cr2.
Not a man who likes to be pigeon-holed easily, Kid also produces latin-inspired funk under his Coolhurst pseudonym. Coolhurst's debut release 'Taller Than The Line/Mamas' is due out on the legendary Freestyle Records, whose output has gained support from the likes of Gilles Peterson, Norman Jay, Kenny Dope, Mr Scruff and DJ Yoda.
Watch out for more forthcoming releases, including a remix of Robert Gabriel's 'How People Dance' for Ricky Stone's 852 Recordings.
Laying it down at clubs across the land, Kid continues to play regular sets for the likes of Renaissance, Smokey Beats and Deranged & Demented's Electro Me To Death among others.
It's always good when the Circus is in town. |
