James Manero
Born and raised in London, James Manero comes from a mixed Cuban / English background and as a result, grew up listening to a varied soundtrack, from more well known Britpop such as Dire Straits, Depeche Mode and of course Michael Jackson, to Latin greats such as Buena Vista Social Club, Ruben Gonzalez and Carlos Santana.

His early steps into DJing began with Latin House and Trance and quickly he moved more into Electro during early 2004. It was University, where he studied music and media management and marketing where he was first introduced to the thriving East End minimal music scene and during this time when he started his first party, Battery Box.

Battery Box quickly established a reputation as a quality underground minimal party, held at Public Life (Shoreditch) once a month, the night featured guests such as Baby Ford, Argy, Gummihz, Miss Jules, Jamie Jones, Boris Horel, and live sets from the likes of Ekkohaus and Confetti Bomb.

At the same time, James Manero set up west end Electro night Warme at the internationally famous, Sketch on a Friday night. Run with his partner in crime, J. Saintil, the night became one of the best Electro nights in the west end and was responsible for really bringing Electro to the west end market.

Shortly after Sketch, he went on to set up Social Club, an industry night held every Monday also in the west end at the Burlington Club. It was due to his success running Social Club that he was then offered the position of General Manager of the club, which he ran for a year before deciding it was time to move back to his real passion, running parties and Djing.

Since leaving the Burlington Club, he has gone on to set up the night, One Night at Momo’s every Thursday at Momo’s Kemia Bar with resident Boris Horel.

His latest project is as the head of marketing and programming for Bar Rumba, London’s legendary club established for more than 15 years. With an opportunity to turn the club around and book some of the biggest names in house and techno, the rest of 2008 should be interesting, not only for James, but also for London’s club scene with names such as Matthias Tanzmann, Alex Smoke, Dan Ghenacia, Dominik Eulberg, Tom Neville, Xpress2, Tom Stephan and Serge Santiago booked for the launch month, and obviously James Manero as resident of Bar Rumba’s new Saturday night dedicated to everything techno…..
